Thanks for your reply. I am a novice......I have to determine the
processor frequency only for Intel processors (Pentium 4 and above and
they do support the extended brand string)at run-time. In the
Intel application note there is an example which calculates the
CPU frequency for a DOS system based on BIOS ticks.
Can I use the same for Windows (using an appropriate offset for the BIOS
segment). Also, would the maximum quaified frequency of the processor
(which is obtained using the CPUID instruction) differ very much from the
operating frequency? If it doesnt, the max freq may also be ok.
