Subject: CPU/MoBo voltage compatibility
Text: Interested in putting an AMD K5 PR166ABR with 3.52V (one source indicates the "B" in "PR166ABR" means this AMD is an early K5 with single voltage) into a Compaq Presario 9546.

This Presario has a single voltage MoBo rated for 3.3V.
It also has FSB jumpers for 50, 40, 60 and 66 Mhz.
And, clock multipliers of 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0.
Should I set these for the obvious 66 & 2.5 to run the PR166.

And, what about the voltage? Are these close enough (3.3V MoBo with a 3.52V CPU) to be compatible?

Any other cautions, limitations or encouragements?

Other markings on the AMD include:
C9719GPC
1996
66 Mhz Bus 3.52V
Malaysia

And the MoBo is IDed with replacement number 214079-001.
Compaq actually calls this a System Board, not a MoBo.

Finally, anyone with a 3.3V, single voltage, Intel 166 Mhz CPU that wants to trade should speak right up.

thanks, larry
